# Cascade Integration

**How Cascade fits into the Anthrocybernetics course**

---

## What Cascade Is

**Cascade** is a **shared progress-tracking template** for cohort members. It uses a hexagonal map structure (126 hexes, 7 rings) that all students use during the course.

**Key Point:** Cascade is the **pedagogical infrastructure**, not the content itself.

---

## Why This Matters

### The Problem It Solves

Most courses teach theory but provide no common tool for students to:
- Track their own progress
- Compare notes with other cohort members
- See the whole class's field at once

Cascade provides a **shared visual substrate** — everyone's on the same map, using the same grammar.

---

## The Ring System

| Ring | Name | Function | Time Scale |
|------|------|----------|------------|
| R1 | Inner Circle | 6 closest relationships (anchors + cohort-mates) | Weekly touch |
| R2 | Extended Network | 12-18 secondary connections | Monthly touch |
| R3 | Vectors | Declared intentions (what you're reaching for) | Quarterly review |
| R4 | Confirmation Ring | Consensus verification | Weekly sync |
| R5 | Daily Awareness | Current state check-in | Daily pulse |
| R6 | Hourly/Real-time | Live awareness | Hourly or continuous |

---

## How It Integrates With the Course

### In the Practitioner Workbook

**§5 — Cascade Tracking Setup**

Each cohort member:
1. Creates their Cascade account
2. Sets R1 = 6 inner circle (cohort-mates + anchor mentor)
3. Declares R3 vectors ("What am I reaching for in this course?")
4. Seeds their carts (Food / Activities / Habitat initial items)
5. Checks R6 awareness ("What does the cohort's current feel like?")

### The 126-Hex Map

- Not every hex is filled — it's a **template**, not a checklist
- Each cohort member occupies a **node** on the shared map
- Over time, patterns emerge: who's resonant, who's stuck, where the field is dense

---

## What Cascade Is NOT

- **Cascade is NOT** the content of the course
- **Cascade is NOT** the Five-Field framework itself
- **Cascade is NOT** a social network (it's a tracking tool, not a feed)
- **Cascade is NOT** required for every course variant (Technical track may not need it)

---

## Draft Status

Cascade is currently in **design phase** — 27 components, no shared state yet. It's referenced in the handoff package but not fully operational.
