A pattern language for sustainable, expandable communities using hexagonal pod-based architecture
v0.2.1 β Single-Story DesignEach hex is a self-contained unit with 38 pods + commons. Add hexes at edges as population grows. Merge or repurpose hexes as community evolves.
When population exceeds 40 or waitlist > 10, add a new hex at any of 6 edges. Each new hex can connect its commons to the existing one.
Designed to meet Indiana town incorporation requirements: 50 residents max per seed hex, county approval process, infrastructure standards.
Solar + battery, well water, rainwater collection, septic. Each hex can operate off-grid if needed. Food production zones zoned by intensity.
| Pod Type | Count | Sq ft | Occupancy | Cost/pod |
|---|---|---|---|---|

| County | Land Price/Acre | Tiny Home Regs | Recommendation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Brown County | $3,000 - $8,000 | No min sq ft, Log Cabin Rule | BEST OPTION |
| Greene County | $2,500 - $6,000 | Relaxed, agricultural zoning | GOOD |
| Orange County | $3,000 - $7,000 | Flexible, PUD possible | GOOD |
| Parke County | $2,500 - $5,000 | Very rural, minimal oversight | ALTERNATE |
| Source | Amount | Terms |
