# Durgam Cheruvu — hook video (scene script)

## Why the first two scenes exist

The first cut started at "₹2,833 crore" with no context. A viewer who has never heard of
Durgam Cheruvu learns which lake only from a caption, never from the narration, and has no
reason to care. The rewrite spends two scenes doing three jobs before any number appears:

1. **Recognition** — "the lake you have driven past", named in Madhapur, Jubilee Hills and
   Raidurg, identified by the cable bridge.
2. **Reframe** — a *cheruvu* is not a pond. It is an engineered tank: a bund, a sluice, a
   surplus weir, and a catchment it was sized for. This single idea makes the auction, the
   FTL fight and the fish deaths all legible.
3. **Stakes** — it supplied Golconda Fort's drinking water for four centuries, which is why
   the land beside it is both the most valuable and the most contested in the city.

The number is then the payoff of scene 3, not an unexplained cold open.

## Standing caveats carried into the video

- The auction is **not** characterised as a land grab. The title dispute is presented as a
  dispute, with six named claimants.
- The biodiversity claim is **corrected**, not amplified. The strongest line in the video is
  the negative one.
- The ₹2,833.22 crore figure and ₹266.53 cr/acre are *official claim* (TGIIC/auction
  brochure). The 2.7 mg/l is *official claim* (TGPCB). The six-claimant list is drawn from
  court records cited in chapter 04.
- No private individuals are named.
- The outro points viewers at the per-chapter source lists, which is the whole point of the
  series: nothing in it asks to be believed.
