# SOP: Prepare and Publish the Menagerie Conversation Archive

**Status:** Executed
**Date:** 2026-08-10
**Purpose:** Create a durable, navigable zo.pub collection from the Menagerie records that are actually available in the workspace, without pretending that missing email exports exist.

## Procedure

1. **Inspect the project.** Read the Menagerie README and AGENTS instructions; inventory meetings, dreams, letters, corpus files, persona definitions, HTML presentations, and existing book work.
2. **Check the publication destination.** List existing zo.pub collections and choose a new, non-destructive collection name: `ghojualamanchu-menagerie-conversations`.
3. **Search for missing records.** Search the visible workspace and Zo conversation workspaces for numbered meeting/dream files and conversation artifacts. Preserve the four recoverable drafts found in Zo scratch workspaces as `recovered-drafts/`.
4. **Filter private implementation details.** Exclude live state, pulse logs, secrets, internal IDs, and host-specific operational files from the public archive. Keep public-facing project context and persona definitions.
5. **Assemble presentation files.** Include a landing HTML file, a Markdown navigation page, a JSON manifest, the compiled encounter HTML, meeting and dream logs, persona definitions, project documentation, and recovered drafts.
6. **Validate the archive.** Check that all linked files exist, that the HTML opens as a standalone file, that the manifest counts match the file inventory, and that no accidental host paths or private state files remain.
7. **Publish.** Sync the assembled directory with `zopub sync` and report the resulting public URL.

## Validation results

- Archive assembled under `book/zo-pub-archive/`.
- 41 files assembled before publication.
- Includes an HTML presentation: `index.html`.
- Includes four recovered Zo-workspace drafts: meetings 009, 017, 020, and 026.
- Includes 12 persona definitions.
- Includes an explicit completeness note: this is the locally available archive, not a guaranteed full export of every email conversation.
