The SOP's next search path calls for a nearby-station comparison before any interpretation. This run selected `USGS-04092677`, **Grand Calumet River at Industrial Highway at Gary, Indiana**, because it is listed in the same USGS Grand Calumet monitoring context and lies in the same regional working area. It also followed the historical path by inspecting a page-checked 1915 county/Calumet history item already surfaced by Archive.org search.

Bryan describes street planning from 1894–1906, a piano-stool factory later converted into the terminal station of the Gary and Interurban Railroad, and the Steel Corporation acquiring holdings and beginning construction of its large plant in 1906. The passage also describes Bryan as an early civic official; these are claims made by a 1915 local-history volume, not independently verified facts in this note.

The neighboring station adds a useful but narrow comparison: the WQP record contains two dissolved-oxygen observations of 7.2 and 7.4 mg/L in 1986 and 1999, while the exact 2022 USGS instantaneous-values request produced no series. This does not resolve the prior `05536356` discrepancy and does not support a period average or sector-wide water-quality value. The two stations are not interchangeable: they have different point locations, sampling histories, and potentially different hydrologic or deployment contexts.
