Anthrocybernetic Water Garden

A living systems design where flow, storage, energy, habitat, and human attention become one visible loop.

This module joins the garden's physical hydrology with the phase vocabulary from WaterStorage. The result is not a claim that water has semantic memory. It is a practical interface for thinking about where water is, how quickly it moves, what lifts it, and how the observer changes the next action.

Gravity distributes

Water moves downhill when hydraulic head is available.

Energy lifts

Sunlight, pedals, wind, ram pressure, or a well supply the return.

Storage buffers

Headers, ponds, deep zones, and aquifers hold different tempos of the cycle.

Attention closes the loop

Measurements and choices become feedback rather than decoration.

The phase map

WaterStorage phaseGarden locationOperational meaning
VAPORRain, well inflow, new intakeNew input enters the system.
CLOUDHeader basin or upper reservoirWater is held ready to distribute.
PRECIPITATIONChannel, spillway, cascadeStored potential becomes movement.
SURFACEPond surface and active habitatThe current state is immediately observable.
INFILTRATIONSeepage, settling, soil transferMaterial moves into a slower layer.
GROUNDWATERDeep pond zone or groundwaterBuffered storage with slower access.
AQUIFERProtected long-term reserveDeep storage and redundancy.
SPRINGSolar or pedal returnStored water is promoted back into active circulation.

Play with the loop

Change the stored levels, then release gravity or supply return energy. Overflow is not failure: it is the boundary that keeps the model honest.

The physical cycle

rain / well inflow / solar or pedal intake
                    ↓
             upper reservoir
                    ↓ gravity
       downhill channels + spillways
                    ↓
                  pond
                    ↓ external energy
             solar or pedal lift
                    └──────────────► upper reservoir

Hydraulic reality: an open return channel can rise only to the pond's water level. A reservoir higher than the pond needs a pump or another source of hydraulic head. This loop is regenerative in form, not perpetual-motion.

What to measure in the real garden

Keep observations distinct from interpretation. The physical garden remains subject to pond engineering, water testing, animal care, electrical safety, and flood-control design.
