# Two-Week Capstone Field Log

## Purpose

Choose one ordinary system that you can observe ethically and repeatedly for two weeks. Complete the Core Workbook loop: define, observe, map, intervene once, return, and assess. Do not choose a situation that requires surveillance, disclosure of private information, unsafe exposure, or control over another person's choices.

## Before beginning

**System:** ________________________________________________

**Boundary:** ______________________________________________

**Scale:** person / relationship / group / organization / place / ecosystem

**Observation window:** _____________________________________

**What I will not collect:** _________________________________

**Consent or privacy plan:** _________________________________

**Safety stop condition:** __________________________________

**Primary question:** _______________________________________

## Days 1–3: Baseline observation

Record direct observations only. If you make an inference, label it.

| Day / time | Phase: rhythm | Field: conditions | Direct observation | Evidence status | Unknown or competing explanation |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| | | | | GROUNDED / HYPOTHESIZED / INTERPRETIVE | |
| | | | | GROUNDED / HYPOTHESIZED / INTERPRETIVE | |
| | | | | GROUNDED / HYPOTHESIZED / INTERPRETIVE | |

## Day 4: Five-Foci map

**Phase — What rhythm is active?**

____________________________________________________________

**Field — What conditions surround and shape it?**

____________________________________________________________

**Arc — What threshold is approaching?**

____________________________________________________________

**Form — What pattern persists?**

____________________________________________________________

**Lattice — Which pathways carry it, and where is repair needed?**

____________________________________________________________

**Bottleneck or threshold I will test:** ______________________

## Day 5: Intervention decision

Choose exactly one small, reversible action. It may be a timing change, a clearer boundary, a pause, a repair request, a measurement, a change in channel, or a reduction in unnecessary load.

**Action:** __________________________________________________

**Why this action is proportionate:** __________________________

**Who must consent or be informed:** ___________________________

**What would make me stop or undo it:** ________________________

**What I expect to observe if it matters:** ____________________

**What I will not conclude from the result:** __________________

## Days 6–12: Intervention and return observations

| Day / time | Action occurred? | Direct observation | Difference from baseline | Evidence status | Unplanned factors |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| | yes / no | | | GROUNDED / HYPOTHESIZED / INTERPRETIVE | |
| | yes / no | | | GROUNDED / HYPOTHESIZED / INTERPRETIVE | |
| | yes / no | | | GROUNDED / HYPOTHESIZED / INTERPRETIVE | |
| | yes / no | | | GROUNDED / HYPOTHESIZED / INTERPRETIVE | |
| | yes / no | | | GROUNDED / HYPOTHESIZED / INTERPRETIVE | |
| | yes / no | | | GROUNDED / HYPOTHESIZED / INTERPRETIVE | |
| | yes / no | | | GROUNDED / HYPOTHESIZED / INTERPRETIVE | |

## Days 13–14: Assessment

**Strongest repeated observation:**

____________________________________________________________

**What changed, if anything:**

____________________________________________________________

**Most plausible competing explanation:**

____________________________________________________________

**What actually persisted:**

____________________________________________________________

**What remains unknown:**

____________________________________________________________

**One next observation that could discriminate between explanations:**

____________________________________________________________

**Did the action return capacity, merely move the burden, or do neither?**

____________________________________________________________

## Completion standard

A complete capstone contains a named system and boundary, at least three baseline observations, a Five-Foci map, one proportionate action, a return observation, evidence labels, competing explanations, unknowns, and a clear stop or privacy boundary. It is not scored as a measure of personal coherence.
